Emili Teixidor Roda de Ter, Osona, Andreu, an year-old boy, discovers the bodies. This idealistic dreamer aspired to more from life than the poverty-stricken existence his father, an agricultural worker, suffered, and thus espoused the revolutionary cause.
Telling a story of war, class divisions, sexuality, religious doctrine, executions, and fascist rule from the point of view of a young boy is, perhaps, one of the best ways to deliver a litany of existential questions without a hint of preachiness.

As it went on, I decided that it was more memoir than novel, since little was happening to move the plot forward. Pa negre by Emili Teixidor.
