B I go developing crushes on fictional characters, it’s because I find them compelling. I struggled to really get into the writing style of the book as well as finding many of the characters likeable.
I was still engaged with what was going on enough to keep reading, but when the setting shifted again–retracing the storyline of the original Dracula–things went off track for me. And that disappointed me. I didn’t think I would like this book as much as I actually did. Oct 22, Iris Nevers rated it really liked it. Then, Rosemary asks to be destroyed because she doesn’t want to live with her daughter dead and her son as a vampire.
But back to the plot. One person found this helpful. It didn’t help that my brain misread the first kissing scene’s sentence as ‘the closeness of his massive face’ instead of frame. I didn’t feel the ending disappointing but it did leave me hanging and having a need to read the 2nd book. I recommend this book if you are looking for a good story that you just can’t put down until it’s done.

Character development is pretty shallow, and the plot seemed somewhat contrived. And what real purpose did it serve to add this new character?
