I would not recommend this to someone looking for an entertaining read- but I would recommend it to someone looking to learn about Michelangelo sk some of agonle cont The author had a bad habit of putting Michelangelo in a niche where his entire personality was determined by the fact that he carved Marble.

On the purpose of the novel, I think again Stone has the upper hand, as the laborious and sometimes painful act of creation in a period of high political turmoil, is in my opinion more interesting than sins of Borgia’s.

He comes across as an idiot led around by his hammer and chisel and completely inept at any other part of life.

For me the best part was reading about the Medici family, and not Michelangelo who was sort of a one-dimensional firecracker of a guy who just loved I’m a sucker extazz historical fiction, so even though this fictional story of the life of Michelangelo was pretty dated, melodramatic, long, and goofy, I still kind of liked it.

I feel that the information could have been condensed into a much smaller and more interesting book. The pacing was terrible and things happened way too fast. That the woman dissappears entirely from this description is telling I think, as Stone seems to struggle to represent them.

Is it real or fiction? Simply to make an abstract moral point on a literature-based networking site xi up of people with relatively the same intellectual and financial status as myself? Not enough here for me to recommend it. While I love art historical fiction, the Italian Renaissance, the book lost its charm for me as the story continued to unfold.
