A Godward Life: Savoring the Supremacy of God in All of Life
Interesting book z many meditations and scriptures. It’s Piper in capsule form – perfect! Thing is, I have several books of devotions and can’t read in all of them every day, of course.
Published October 5th by Multnomah Books puper published August 1st I can see that some people truly enjoyed this book which is wonderful; but I think I will stick to Lewis and Chesterton. They are the hope of my future, the energy of my service, the center of my theology, the bond of jobn marriage, the best medicine in all my sickness, the remedy of all my discouragements.
Piper’s heart is obviously in the right place and he may be a wonderful pastor, teacher and leader of his flock, but, for this reader – his writing fell short of my expectations.
I didn’t disagree with anything he said, but didn’t think it particularly helpful as a devotional book. Jan 30, Stephan P Zacharias is currently reading it Recommends it for: Account Options Sign in. I confess that most devotional books are somewhat wimpy, but this one is not.
I found most of pipfr somewhat interesting, but a bit dry on the whole.
This book delivers for the most part. His devotion to the glory of God and to encouraging the reader to find full satisfaction in Jesus comes through on every page.

I read a couple a day for two months, jhn didn’t gofward any new inspiration – I don’t even remember what most of them were about. Thanks for telling us about the problem. I don’t often come across devotionals that contain “meat” of scripture, but I think there is quite a bit of meat in Piper’s book. This book contains devotional-type readings and commentary from John Piper, an American Baptist pastor.

I always had much to ponder after reading Piper. It’s hard to review this type of book.
John Piper is an author whose books I would buy without giving it a second thought. In an economy of words, Piper addresses important biblical and social issues from a Scriptural worldview. Piper’s heart is obviously in the right place and he may be a wonderful pastor, t I struggled between two and three stars for this book. This book is arranged in bite-sized nuggets perfectly sized to savor.
