On the other side the trannys are basically a mirror of the first side preamp board.
The issue here is not so much the noise level of the transistor, but the fact they need to be matched to each other in this situation.
No, create an account now. Am I hearing more separation or is just because of less noise? Not daatsheet, or whatever: It looks like a direct drop in.
The original 2sc does look different. In transistor selection, like many other aspects of electronics, the devil is in the details. I did pay attention to the circuit board with the location of E C B and put the datashewt of the 2sc in the apropriate holes, and unit is working fine, but, it looks like I’ll be pulling them.
I understand now why I was 2s4c58 on how to place the transistors. AndymanJan 4, Share This Page Tweet. Is that what you mean by “Some new-production 2SC’s have the same basing as the 2SC, but those new devices are not installed in vintage gear”? So, should 2SC’s of any age be replaced anywhere they are found?

They simply aren’t to be trusted. Fred, thanks for the detailed information. The post was made by someone who is well respected and very experienced in this forum, so this is my reasoning for questioning what I have found in the data sheets.
The original 2SC was made by Hitachi, and installed in a funny-looking rectangular package with a little “roof” on the top that slopes down from front to back.

Log in or Sign up. I would never stick it in a low-noise circuit. It has a kind of a flat taper on both sides, and printing on both sides, thanks YD. Yankee DogMar 17, I ordered the 2sc as a replacement from MCM.

So looking at the data sheets I am not seeing it. Things are working and sounding fine. By the early ‘s, the 2SC had proved itself as a wonderful small-signal, low-noise transistor, 2s458 with an acceptable bandwidth, so I began using it as a replacement for the 2SC I really want to be sure before I put these things in.
EchoWarsMar 18, Then a similiar thread mentions to “put them in backwards”. Yes, my password is: Trannys are in 2sc and it sounds a little sharper, and clearer if that means anything. It works fine as a basic, small-signal transistor, and is fine for many applications. Yankee DogMar 15, Valley of Heart’s Delight.
Luckily the board was labelled E C B so I just installed them keeping track of that. Try the 2SCs you have. To me it looks like they are the same. Unfortunately, they began to leak and generate noise and operating-point errors. I read a thread on adtasheet forum that stated something to the effect that the 2sc has “opposite basing” than the 2sc Now I’m just waiting for my caps to arrive so I can breath more solder fumes.
I used BC as the replacement in my X – they work just fine.

In or Around the Motor City. Do you already have an account? HyperionMar 18, HyperionMar 17, Yankee DogMar 16, I replace them wherever I find them. Sorry it’s hard to describe, but in a way, they do 22sc458 in backwards sort of.
